F.I.T. offers two courses; Using Force, designed to update officers on issues surrounding using force in modern policing. The other is Force Investigations; A two day course specifically for officers and investigators responsible for investigating and documenting force incidents in their agencies or on protocol teams.
Using Force: This 8 hour course is targeted for all officers to review the complexities of using force in the United States. Officers overwhelmingly have an intuitive understanding of using force, but rarely are trained to articulate and document our force in a meaningful way that will answer the questions of their supervisor, prepare them for a deposition, and defend themselves in a court. See what you’ll learn in the Using Force Course.
Use of Force Investigations: This 16 hour course is designed to cover the issues investigators will face when investigating and reporting use of force incidents as part of their duties. This course will concentrate on correctly applying the legal standards, determining reasonableness, the use of weapons, interpreting evidence and more. Read more about the Use of Force Investigations Class.
In addition to the courses provided, we can customize training for your agency or team. Also, if your agency is interested in hosting the Using Force or Use of Force Investigations course, please contact F.I.T.
